Flex Fails to Connect When Reading a DAF Delphi ETC3 UDS ECU

Problem:
An Magic Motorsport Flex user attempted to read a Delphi ETC3 ECU via OBD, but the tool failed to establish communication and displayed the message: “UDS version is not supported yet.” The ECU also could not be connected or read successfully in Bench mode.

Here is the solution for reading and unlocking DAF Delphi ETC3 ECUs with Flex.

For ETC3 ECUs up to 2018, Flex supports OBD/Bench reading. The 2017 KWP version can be handled without removing the ECU—simply use the FLX2.65 Truck Cable to read, tune, or clone the ECU. Power and CAN lines can also be connected directly to the ECU pins when using the OBD protocol.

For models from 2018 onward, the ETC3 ECU uses the UDS protocol and is locked. Rev A/C units before Rev 0 can be read directly via OBD, while Rev 0 units require an unlocking procedure.

There are two available solutions: send the ECU to MMS for RFT unlocking, or use Korhex to unlock it in your own workshop. With the latest Korhex feature, DAF Delphi ETC3 UDS control units can be unlocked directly using the boot glitch method.
