For automotive locksmiths, tuners, and diagnostic technicians, dealing with locked modern ECUs has always been one of the toughest bottlenecks in the workshop. Today, OBDSTAR has dropped a massive announcement that is set to change the game for bench programming.

Coming soon, OBDSTAR will officially support Locked Bosch MG1 and MD1 ECU reading, writing, and unlocking!

Function:

• Read and write INT Flash & INT EEPROM on Bench
• Unlock ECU via Boot
• Checksum

This highly anticipated software update will allow users to bypass factory security restrictions on some of the most common engine computers found in late-model BMW, Ford, Fiat Chrysler (FCA), and Isuzu vehicles.

This upcoming release targets highly popular TriCore-based Bosch controllers. Here is the initial breakdown of what is supported:

Crucial Hardware Requirement

To take advantage of this new unlock and read/write function, you will need the correct physical hardware interface.

 

Required Accessory:

This update strictly requires OBDSTAR RH850/V850 adapter kit (C4-06 adapter) to interface with the locked microcontrollers securely on the bench. Make sure your shop has this adapter ready to go ahead of the release!

 

How to Get Ready

The new OTA software update is heading directly to compatible OBDSTAR platforms (such as OBDSTAR G3, OBDSTAR ECU Master, DC706 ECU Tool), as well as PC. Note: Exact features may vary by device.

This update makes your workflow incredibly simple:

• Minimal teardown: Barely any capacitors or resistors need to be removed.

• Straightforward wiring: Only two “boot” wires require soldering.

• Automated unlocking: The adapter automatically handles the parameter selection for you.
